Twas the Night Before Your Closing

Twas the night before your closing, when all through the office
Not a creature was stirring, not even the mouse.
The files were stacked on the desk with care,
In hopes that Jennifer Ferri soon would be there.

The realtors were all nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of approved short sales danced in their heads.
And Vicki at her desk, and I in my zone
Had just settled in for a long day on the phone.

When out in the parking lot there rose such a clatter,
I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.
Away down the hall I fell on the floor,
Tore open the blinds and opened the door.

The moon on the grass of a new fallen dew
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer.

With a beautiful driver, so lively and merry
I knew in a moment it must be Ms. Ferri
More rapid than eagles her coursers they came,
And she whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On Cupid! on, Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch to the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!

As dry palm frawns that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the office-top the coursers they flew,
With a sleigh full of files and Jennifer too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, was turning around,
In the door Ms. Ferri came with a bound.

She spoke not a word, but went straight to her work,
And completed each file, then turned with a jerk.
And after review, the HUD approval was sent
And giving a nod, out the door she went.

She sprang to her sleigh, to her team gave a whistle,
Away they flew like a down of a thistle.
But I heard her exclaim, "ere she drove out of sight,
"Happy Closings to all, and to all a good night!"
